The Global AI Revolution:
Steps to Ethically Utilize AI to Address the Climate Crisis in Africa

As we continue to face the challenges of climate change, the role of artificial intelligence (AI) has become increasingly important. The global AI revolution has the potential to help us better understand the complex interplay of climate systems and human behavior, thereby enabling us to make data-driven decisions that can mitigate the impacts of climate change. For example, AI can be used to analyze satellite imagery and data to monitor changes in temperature, sea levels, and vegetation patterns (World Economic Forum, 2021). It can also be used to optimize energy systems and reduce carbon emissions. By harnessing the power of AI, we can work towards a more sustainable future for our planet.

How can artificial intelligence be utilized to better understand the impact of human behavior on climate change? What are some examples of sustainable technologies that can be developed with the help of AI? In what ways can governments, industry leaders, and scientific communities collaborate to maximize the potential of AI in mitigating the effects of climate change? How do we ensure that AI is used ethically, inclusively, and safely to solve the climate crisis in Africa?
This session centers around exploring the potential applications of cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies to tackle the pressing issues of climate change. It will delve into how AI can be leveraged to combat the detrimental consequences climate change has on our planet and discuss the various eco-friendly strategies and approaches that can be employed toward this goal.
