Sr. Anne Njenga

Empowerment on Dairy farming - Kenya
Sr Anne Njenga is a professed member in the Congregation of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Eldoret. She joined the congregation in the year 1993 as an Aspirant, an took her first Vows in 1996, and her Final Vows at Silver jubilee in 2023.
She is a trained Accountant ,having worked in different institutions both in the Congregation and outside the congregation. I have a keen interest on entrepreneurship especially for income generating activities .Currently I am the Development Coordinator of the Congregation where I deal with M&E.

Sr. Lilian Apio

St. Clare poultry farming - Kenya
Sr Lilian Apiyo, is affiliated with the Little Sisters of St Francis, West of the Rift Valley Region. She speaks multiple languages including; English, Kiswahili, Luhya, and a bit of German.
A teacher by profession, her mission is to reach others with compassion especially the marginalized communities of society. Sr. Lilian has mastered various skills at work such as teamwork, leadership skills, imaginative thinking, communication skills, patience and well as being an innovative risk taker.
Sr. Lilian’s goals are to attain entrepreneurship skills as well as acquire experience in the field of business to nurture the young minds and help them to be self-reliant with regard to, “the signs of times.”
Her hobbies are; research & discovery, socializing.

Sr. Leah Nyamitho

St. Francis Social enterprise - Kenya
Sr. Leah Njoroge, a religious nun from the Congregation of the Little Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi. Am currently working in West of the Rift Valley region in Bungoma Diocese in Kenya. I have trained in Community development in undergraduate level and later on in Entrepreneurship at post graduate level. I have worked in our Charitable Institutions with orphans and children with disabilities.
My goal is to work with the communities toward developing our/ their potentials to achieve sustainability and work towards empowering the vulnerable groups as opposed to extreme charity which has created dependency.

Sr. Jane Mwikali

Pig farming - Kenya
My name is Sister Jane Mulwa, and I am proud to be a member of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart for the past 20 years. Professionally, I am a social worker, dedicated to serving others. Currently, I am stationed at the novitiate, where we oversee the St. Joseph Social Enterprise.
It brings me great joy to be involved in this program, as it aligns with our mission of compassion and service. I am eager to expand my knowledge through this endeavor, as it will undoubtedly enhance my ability to serve others effectively and with even greater dedication.

Sr. Matilda Mubanga

Daughters of the Redeemer Organic Farming - Zambia
Sr. Matilda Mubanga belongs to a local congregation of sisters called the Daughters of the Redeemer.
Sr. Matilda has trained as a nurse but also holds a Masters Degree in Public Health. As a nurse, she has worked in various health facilities, both in the Church as well as the government. For 13 years, she has worked at the Catholic Secretariat as National Health Coordinator for the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops, providing oversight on all Catholic owned health facilities in the country.
Currently, she works within her congregation as Projects Coordinator, providing oversight on all projects of the congregation in collaboration with the sisters who are on the ground as direct implementers

Sr. Sylvia Akugizibwe

Banyatereza Coffee Value Added Project - Uganda
Sr. Sylvia Akugizibwe, is from a humble family of 14 and is the 3rd child of her parents. She serves at the Daughters of St.Therese of the Child Jesus (Banyatereza Sisters). This is an Indigenous Registered Institute of Religious women who in their ministry combine work and prayer.
It was started by the Missionaries of Africa in 1937 to carry out the works of both evangelization and social services to all people through various activities, most especially:
  • Education and Management of Schools, to promote the teaching Ministry for the transformation of a human person for dignified life in the Community.
  • Rural based grassroots Community mobilization, to promote community participation in household social development programmes and outreach.
  • Teaching Religion and giving Religious/Catechetical Instructions.
  • To promote the Healing Ministry of Christ by disease prevention through community Based Health Education and care and provision of Quality care.
  • Formation
At present the Institute is working in four African Countries of Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and South Sudan, with the Mother House or HeadQuarters located in Kabarole District, Fort- Portal Tourism City, Uganda.
Sr. Sylvia is the Operational Manager for the Banyatereza Coffee Value Added Project in Fort-Portal in Uganda.

Sr. Astridah Banda

Dominican Convent Boys Secondary School - Zambia
Sr. Astridah Banda O.P. is a Dominican Missionary Sister of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She started her journey as a Religious Sister in the Catholic Church in 2001 and now has a BA in Social Work and Counselling and has been a practicing social work since 2012. She has vast experience in working with rural and peri-urban communities and her passion is working with vulnerable groups especially women and children with a special focus on empowering vulnerable groups to be self-sustaining by providing relevant information that influence decision-making and improve the general perception of life.
Her belief is that life invites us every day to make a difference, and as a social worker, one has many opportunities to make a positive and noticeable difference in society.

Sr. Faustina Asiimwe

Economic Enterprise of empowering, skilling of vulnerable young women - Uganda
Sr. Faustina Asiimwe, is Omukiga by tribe and a Ugandan. She hasI studied in Kabanyonyi Primary School and finished P.7 In 1987. She joined the Religious Institute in 1992 completed her formation and professed in 1995.
Sr. Faustina has happily lived a religious life for 28 years. She, received her Bachelors in Social Work and Social Administration at Kampala International University 2003-2006. She matriculated in her religious studies at the Urbanian University in Rome, Italy from 2009-2014 and specialized in Consecrated Life.
She has served in 6 communities, formerly as a social worker, a Local Superior, a formator, and now as a Vicaress from 2020 to today. Sr. Faustina also works as Administrator for her church’s Social Enterprise which was started in September, 2023.

Sr. Hellen Monica Acio

St. Michael Leisure Garden - Uganda
Sr. Hellen Monica Acio is a perpetual vows Sister belonging to the Congregation of the Little Sisters of Mary Immaculate of Gulu situated in Gulu Archdiocese.
A secretary by profession, Sr. Hellen Monica worked in the Generalate as Secretary General from 2002 to 2019. She was elected as councilor in charge of the project for her Chapter and has worked since then to date.
During the course of her service in this office, she has witnessed how the Congregation’s financial stability towards sustainability created various opportunities for improvement. With great concern, Sr. Hellen observed that there were attendants in St. Mary’s hospital that labored and suffered from having to travel long distances looking for small things like a bottle of soda to give to their patients. Sr. Hellen has also seen a growing number of schools with many pupils and students that have to walk a long distance to get soap and other basic hygienic needs.
As a result of these observations and needs, the Congregation decided to establish a social enterprise to make some of these much needed items more accessible by creating a “shopping point” nearby their homes.

Sr. Mary Caroline Bacia

Youth Empowerment for Self-reliance (YES) - Uganda
Sr. Mary Caroline belongs to the Institute of the Little Sisters of Mary Immaculate of Gulu based in Northern Uganda. She has lived and served as a Consecrated person in the Institute for 30 years. In her areas of apostolate, Sr. Mary Caroline served in the Secretariat of the Institute for 12 years as Secretary. Additionally, she served seven and half years as the Program Coordinator for Uplifting Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and youth in the Caritas Nebbi Catholic Diocese supported by the Private Health Support of USAID in Northern Uganda.
Sr. Mary Caroline also rendered her service as Program Manager of Bishop Cypriano Kihangire (BCK) School of Hope Kindergarten and Primary school as well as the Youth Empowerment Program at the same location.
Due to her experience, she is now serving as the National Program Coordinator for ARU Sister Led Youth Initiative Uganda, taking the lead in empowering the youth who have dropped out of school by providing hands-on skilling for their sustainability, to enable them to become agents of positive change in their families and society at large.
Sr. Mary Caroline is very passionate and is a specialist in the area of empowerment. She also has a vision of development and sustainability for the social enterprise where she serves. Taking lead in coordinating the program that helps youth to initiate and manage their own enterprises for their sustainability. It makes her feel happy because she feels that she is contributing in creating meaning in the lives of youth.

Sr. Josephine Kamau

JOSKA Natural Food Processors - Uganda
Sr. Josephine Kamau is from the Institute of Daughters of Mary (DM). Sr. Josephine has a Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree in Business Administration. She has worked at the Archbishop Secondary School as a school bursar for 6 (Six) years from 2015 to 2021. She is currently a Treasurer General at the Association of Religious in Uganda and has been since 2022.
Sr. Josephine’s passion to start a small social enterprise (JOSKA Natural Food Processors) was fuelled by her University lecturer who required each student to come up with a business that was sustainable. She realized that dealing in pumpkim products was the best idea because it boosts the health of all people.
