Official Launch of the Ohonme Foundation

The founders and team of Samaritan’s Feet and the African Diaspora Network are delighted to invite you to the official launch event of the Ohonme Foundation. 

At this official launch, the Ohonme Foundation team look forward to introducing you to this impactful organization and their mission catalyst program accelerating the prosperity of African Women and Youth. 

This event is organized as part of the 10th Anniversary of the African Diaspora Investment Symposium (ADIS25)*, hosted by the African Diaspora Network, which explores the innovative ways the diaspora go Beyond Remittances through investments, philanthropy and other mechanisms. By leveraging the expertise and resources of African professionals, and friends of Africa worldwide, the foundation aims to scale community-driven initiatives for lasting change.

Context:
Across Africa, women and young people face significant challenges in securing sustainable employment, with many trapped in cycles of unemployment or informal, low-paying jobs. At the same time, the global footwear industry presents immense opportunities for economic empowerment, skill development, and entrepreneurship.

Leveraging on decades of experience using shoe distribution as a catalyst for change serving millions throughout the world through their NGO Samaritan’s Feet and their World Shoe social enterprise, Co-Founders Manny and Tracie Ohonme, established the Ohonme Foundation as an Africa-focussed and Africa-led philanthropic vehicle that seeks to bridge this gap by creating dignified, sustainable jobs while fostering innovation in locally made footwear.

Objectives: 

  • Introduce the Foundation’s Mission & Strategic Vision – Share the core pillars of the foundation and how it aligns with Africa’s development agenda.
    • Engage African Diaspora Leaders & Stakeholders – Foster meaningful partnerships with diaspora investors, philanthropists, and policymakers.
    • Showcase Impact-Driven Programs – Highlight key initiatives under the Ohonme Foundation
    • Mobilize Resources & Partnerships – Invite collaboration from governments, NGOs, businesses, and diaspora networks to advance livelihoods
    • Call to Action: Highlight the next steps and avenues for partnerships.
