The African diaspora have long been Africa’s most consistent source of support. In 2024, remittances to the continent exceeded $100 billion. The question is how to transform that remittance flow into investment in grassroots organizations. The African Diaspora Network (ADN), in partnership with Myriad USA, created the African Diaspora Innovation Fund (AfDIF) as a tool to mobilize philanthropic capital toward African and African-descendant social entrepreneurs, with grants of up to $25,000 at the early stage – when funding is hardest to find and grant capital can unlock the growth that follows.
Ahead of ADN’s D.C. office celebration, At the Table: Diaspora Capital for Africa’s Future, will bring together prospective donors and investors for an intimate, intentional conversation on AfDIF’s role in bridging the gap between remittance and long-term investment. Backed by a Strategic Advisory Council of investors and executives across finance, energy, and impact investing, the fund is administered by Myriad USA and operates under rigorous U.S. regulatory standards, with contributions tax-deductible.
The salon is a closed-door conversation, not a pitch to a crowd, but a candid discussion of AfDIF’s model and impact with individuals positioned to invest, open doors, or both. It’s guided by a simple premise: “every great venture needs a first believer.” Once the salon concludes, guests transition directly into the broader reception.
