Ghislain Irakoze

Ghislain Irakoze is a social entrepreneur, digital inclusion practitioner, and advocate. He founded Wastezon, an award-winning social enterprise that leverages AI to repurpose electronic materials into low-cost devices for consumers with a mission of igniting digital transformation and circular economy. To date, he has led his team in empowering over 15000 Rwandan households with low-cost refurbished devices.

In advocacy, Ghislain is a Data Value Advocate at Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data, working with 6 East African organizations to examine AI contextualization needs for African users. As a former Research Fellow at the World Wide Web Foundation and Planet ReImagined, Ghislain sits on the Global Greengrants Fund’s Next Gen Climate Board and previously served on the EU Commission-International Partnerships’ Youth Sounding Board. He holds a BA in International Business and Trade from the African Leadership University and is a Master of Public Policy candidate at the University of Oxford.
