Africa’s Approach to COVID-19
In July 2020, the Africa CDC reported over 730,000 cases of COVID-19 and 15,418 deaths across the 54 African countries, comprising 5% of all cases reported globally. At the intersection of science, innovation, and citizenship, the pandemic calls upon leaders across Africa to swiftly mobilize health care experts, practitioners, and researchers in a coordinated response. What progress is being made to advance efforts in prevention, detection, and vaccination on the continent? How will healthcare access and delivery transform to meet the needs of both urban and rural areas? How do we strengthen and support the workforce of healthcare and STEM workers who catalyze the strategic planning and execution of medical innovations? This session invites seasoned health care experts to contextualize Africa’s progress on the development of medical solutions and share their vision on the future of health care through investment and entrepreneurship.
